Keene State College
4:30-8:00 pm

Annual Open Studios at KSC Architecture School
High School Design Competition
Reception with dinner buffet and cash bar
Lecture from Bruce Coldham FAIA

Our evening will begin with the AIA New Hampshire High School Design Competition exhibit and the KSC Architecture Open Studios, 4:30 - 6:15pm.

The architecture students look forward to the opportunity to network with regional professionals and receive informal feedback on their work.

After the Open Studios, we will move to the KSC Alumni Center for a dinner buffet, awards presentations for the High School Design Competition and a presentation from Bruce Coldham FAIA:   Design Thinking for a Lively Future: How should (or can) human settlement persist? Is this even a necessary or intelligent question?

Bruce Coldham FAIA, an architect who has practiced on three continents, has spent a professional lifetime thinking about containing the impact of the built environment to within the carrying capacity of our earthly biosphere. Organizing his small practice, based in Amherst MA, to create buildings guided by natural systems, he chipped away at this goal. Now, in early retirement, he reflects on his harvest  — what has been fruitful and what has not;  what are the useful solution concepts; where are the points of traction; what are the fundamental principles.
