November Chapter Meeting

The Hood Museum at Dartmouth College:
Integrating, respecting, responding and creating something new - challenges and rewards when designing in context.

The newly renovated and expanded Hood Museum at Dartmouth College showcases a winning example of responsive modern design. The building not only respects the successful aspects of the original Hood Museum (1985) by Charles Moore, but additionally balances its presence between the Hopkins Center for the Arts (1962) by Wallace Harrison and Wilson Hall (1884). The museum also pioneers object based learning and the design responds to this as well, while presenting "calming" spaces that enhance the art shown within its walls.

Join us for a presentation and building tour by Azadeh Rashidi of Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects; Julliette Bianco - Deputy Director of the Hood Museum, Dartmouth College; John Scherding, AIA, Associate Vice President for Planning, Design & Construction, Dartmouth College

A reception with refreshments and cash bar will start the evening at 5PM.
