Smith & Vansant Architects PC is looking for a Junior Architect or a Senior Architect to join our firm. We are a small, friendly, design-oriented firm located in the Upper Valley of Vermont on the border with New Hampshire (near Dartmouth College). Our practice focuses on highly customized residential work as well as institutional, commercial, and community projects. We work in a variety of styles spanning from clean, contemporary design to traditional detailing that speaks to our local historic context.

We are looking for an individual with a strong design sensibility, ideally comfortable working in a range of architectural styles, who enjoys a collaborative design process and can contribute to a project from conceptual design to construction administration. Finding a good personality match with our small firm is very important to us. We are focused on producing beautiful, thoughtful and responsible work, but also value our time outside of the office hiking, gardening, swimming, skiing and generally taking advantage of our beautiful environment with our families.

Qualifications:

•  Junior Architect: 1-5 years OR Senior Architect: 5-10 years experience in architecture
•  Professional degree in architecture from an accredited institution (M. Arch preferred) 
•  Experience in high-end residential design
•  Experience in commercial/institutional design
•  Construction documentation/detailing experience
•  Excellent communication (written & interpersonal) and organizational skills
•  Proficiency with CAD 2D drafting required (Vectorworks is a plus)
•  Interest/knowledge of sustainable practices & theory (LEED Accreditation is a plus)
•  Ability to work on/manage multiple projects simultaneously
•  Proficiency in Sketch-up, energy modeling and/or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
•  Experience with ADA, building codes, routine structural design is a plus
•  Freehand sketching ability is highly valued

Stone River Architects is searching for a full time architect to join our quickly growing firm. Due to the small size of the office, the applicant will have the opportunity to have his or her hand in a variety of project phases such as but not limited to: field measuring / data input, create drawings from sketch level to presentation, working drawings, attending design and construction meetings, and possibly construction management depending on their background.

Applicant should have good organization and communication skills, and have an attention to detail. They will largely be working in Autocad and Revit, and should be proficient at both. Although not a requirement, having skills with 3D modeling and rendering programs such as Sketchup and Illustrator would be beneficial. 

Salary to be commensurate with experience and national averages. Healthcare coverage can be offered as part of compensation package.

 Ideally, the candidate will have a B-Arch or M-Arch degree, and have a between 5 to 10 years experience. For its size, Stone River is a fairly productive office, so applicants will be exposed to a variety of tasks and should be able to switch gears to lend a hand on what needs to be completed at the time.
