Membership Types

Architect >

Individuals with an architectural license from a U.S. licensing authority are eligible for architect membership.

Associate Architect >

Associate membership is open to individuals who meet one of the following criteria: professional degree in architecture; currently work under the supervision of an architect; currently enrolled in the Intern Development Program (IDP) and working toward licensure; or faculty member in a university program in architecture.

Associate New Graduate >

Open to first-time AIA members who have recently graduated with a professional degree in architecture are eligible for free membership for up to 18 months.

International Associate >

Individuals who have an architecture license or equivalent from a non-U.S. licensing authority are eligible for International Associate membership.

Affiliate Membership >

For individuals and companies with established professional reputations outside of architectural practice but who are involved in positions allied to the field of architecture.

Incentives

  • Dues Installment Program. Pay your dues in up to six monthly installments with the AIA Dues Installment Program. Learn more >

  • Tax deductible dues statement. For state and federal income tax purposes, payments to the AIA and its components are generally deductible as trade or business expenses—except for the percentage spent on lobbying federal or state governments. Consult a tax professional to determine the appropriate tax treatment of your dues.
