Donna Paley Speaks about the Architecture Program at Keene State College

An overview of the Architecture Program at Keene State College. (the only 4 year architecture major in the state of New Hampshire!)

Explanation of the history of the program, the degrees offered, the academic mission and vision, an overview of the curriculum, demographic of students, background of faculty, synergies with related programs in the department and campus, the AIAS chapter, relationships with NESEA, regional CTE high school programs, graduate schools, professional firms, alternate career paths, and alumni stories. Accreditation, the paths to licensure, internships, and the opportunities for strengthening relationship with the AIANH and regional AIA chapters will be discussed.

The presenters will include the chair of the program, full-time and adjunct faculty members. We encourage discussion and lively Q & A during and after the presentation.

Donna Paley is an architect, urban designer, and educator who is a Professor of Architecture and the Co-Chair of the Architecture Department at Keene State College, Keene, NH. Arriving at the College in 2004, she collaborated to develop the architectural option into an architecture major, which offers a Bachelor in Science in a pre-professional program with a balance of studio design and building science curricula. Prior to teaching, Donna worked in architectural firms in New York City, Barcelona,and Greenfield, Massachusetts. As a licensed architect and urban designer, she specializes in institutional, infrastructural, civic architecture, urban design, and master planning. With a background in Architecture, Urban Design, European history, and experience in designing in various countries, Donna brings an emphasis on context, culture, and people to the creation of a genuine place. She advocates strongly for integrating passive and active sustainability strategies in every project, large or small.
